BSCMID / KIMID’s MISSION

Name and Registered Office

The society shall carry the name " Blacksea Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology" BSCMID (Turkish abbreviation KIMID). The registered office of the society shall be located in Samsun, Turkey.

BSCMID/KIMID’s Mission:

BSCMID is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases by promoting and supporting research, education and training in infectious diseases disciplines. The society aims to achieve this by scientific exchange, educational programs, grants and awards, certification and consultation with professional and government agencies. Through its activities and publications BSCMID promotes professional exchange and stimulates an open and collaborative spirit nourished by the diversity of Turkish, European and Central Asian cultures.

General Information on BSCMID

Objectives of the Society
The society shall apply itself to the promotion of research and education in diagnosis and therapy in the fields of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology. The fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases cover the study of the following: the pathogens, pathogenesis, diagnosis, epidemiology, prevention and therapy of infectious diseases, including drug usage policy, infection control, and all other basic and clinical aspects of infection and immunity.

The society shall attempt to bring together persons who specialize in the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases in Turkey and aims to establish and maintain a world-class locus of activity and exchange of ideas for a community of researchers in the area, both nationally and internationally. The aims of the society shall be realized by holding scientific congresses, arranging exchange visits between members, enhancing postgraduate education and teaching, collaborating in research projects and in professional matters, publishing various publications (journal, supplements, books, guidelines), and acting as a liaison between professional societies, governments or government agencies.

The Society shall work in partnership scientific relations with Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical School and other Medical Schools in Turkey and Central Asia.

The society aims to support the followings;

The society shall provide public information media about the diagnosis, treatment and immunization of infectious diseases.

The society shall perform and/or support the scientific investigations on infectious diseases.

The society shall plan and act of epidemiologic and experimental studies on clinical microbiology and infectious diseases

The society shall support the standardization and improvement of diagnostic methods in infectious diseases

The society shall collect, analyze, and publicize data on infectious diseases

The Main Topics of BSCMID Works

• Collaboration with concerned organizations and disciplines

• Preparing courses on infectious diseases  

• Preparing print and visual media (periodicals, books, movies, tape records and other publications) and archiving them

• Improving website, discussing groups and newsgroups

• Preparing advanced specialty courses, lessons, meetings, seminars, symposiums, conferences, congresses and summer schools

• Inviting national and international speakers specialized in infectious diseases to give talks and seminars

• Establishing study groups on infectious diseases and clinical microbiology

• Providing fellowships and grants for researchers

• Collaborations with national and international organizations and societies on all related topics

• Developing projects on the investigation of country and collaboration with related organizations

• In a collaboration with Ondokuz Mayıs University (Samsun, Turkey), supporting students, researchers and other related workers for advanced education in Turkey and outside of Turkey on infectious diseases and clinical microbiology

• Consulting non-profit organizations, official organizations and persons about study on infectious diseases and clinical microbiology and establishing consulting centers for such purposes.
